Matthew 25:37- 40 NIV

“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry

and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?

When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and

clothe you?

When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the

least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

The mission of Helping In His Name Ministries, Inc. (The Food Pantry) is to model the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by providing food to the hungry and needy people of Henry County. This mission is to be carried out by a volunteer work force and a small staff using donated food and money. Our mission is usually short term, "stop-gap" help; long term relief is to be usually outside the scope of our mission. In all cases, modeling the loving and compassionate character of Jesus is to be as much a part of our mission as the tangible food that we give.

About Us

Helping In His Name Ministries, Inc., usually referred to as "The Food Pantry", is an ecumenical, non-profit organization that provides temporary emergency help to the unemployed, the underemployed, to elderly people on fixed incomes, and single parents on a biweekly or monthly basis. No one with a legitimate need is refused help.

Since its inception in 1990, "The Food Pantry" has grown significantly. We currently feed more than 3100 people every month who are less fortunate. Although we are an emergency or crisis center, often we are able to help single parents change the course of their lives and move out of the unfortunate situations in which they find themselves.

Many elderly people on fixed incomes are unable to purchase adequate food due to high medical expenses, so we are able to supplement their food supply on a monthly basis. This also includes USDA food commodities. We also offer information on other agencies, both governmental and non-profit, which may assist in other areas.

Feeding more than 3100 people every month requires not only the dedication of loyal volunteers and financial input from many sources, but also a facility in which to store the food and serve the people whom we help. We depend completely on donations of food and money for our operation. There are five salaried positions and operation costs are kept to a minimum.

The Food Pantry is open five days a week. The Pantry is staffed by more than a 150 volunteers weekly with a 17 member Board of Directors in place. Volunteers come from all walks of life to follow the teaching of Jesus to minister to the needs of others. We invite you to join us in this ministry through your prayers, volunteer service, and donations.
